I have a bunch of iPhone photos with generic titles. I put them all in one folder, and I had to change the filenames of many of them to prevent duplicates (or overwritten files). Have I shot myself in the foot (or elsewhere)?

Cheers,

Will

Lightroom does not find missing files. LR will let you know a file is missing if it has been moved or renamed outside of LR. Should that happen you just need to invoke the "Find Missing File" function and locate these yourself. LR does not care if the file that you find has the same name as the one that was originally cataloged.

Two files in the same folder simply can not have the same name. It is a basic limitation in every operating system. If you don't rename the second file it will overwrite the first file. This has nothing to do with Lightroom.
