For sometime now I've had my Lr Catalogue on my Dropbox drive - with my images elsewhere. Given the the catalogue is always changing and therefore constantly updated on line, does this have an impact on performance / speed?

Thanks!

No, it should not have an impact. For Lightroom, the Dropbox folder is just another folder and Dropbox does not change the catalog, only Lightroom does.

Only indirect impact. The Dropbox app will be fairly constantly looking at the files and proceeding to send up the changes to the server.
Note: I did this with Dropbox, Google Drive, MS OneDrive.... and many others. 99.9% of the time I never noticed. A few times, I did see the impact as my Mac, then Windows would get stuck syncing and sort of "pause" as network buffering over loaded.
