Do Original Image Files Remain on iPad after Sync?

Let's say you import 5GB of photos from an SD Card to an iPad and they are successfully uploaded to the cloud.

Do the original 5GB of photos remain on the iPad?

That depends on your settings in 'Cloud Storage & Sync'.
 
So if you have the setting to only “download” of smart previews on iPad, after the full sizes Raw images are successfully uploaded, from the iPad then “poof” they are physically removed from the device and the smart preview is downloaded?
