I recently converted to 1.4, and then back to 1.3..

I have been leaving my import files as .cr2 type.

after upgrading to 1.4 and back, I just noticed that my files are now being converted to DNG files.

What would be the reasoning behind leaving files as imported, or converting them to dng?

I use a canon 4'd and PC running xp pro. I have been using lightroom for6 months or so and have 3''' files I have imported into it.

Thanks,

Adam

I'll give a few other tired poster in here a rest and start for you.

First thing you need to do for us is detail all your info/signature so we know what system, gear etc you use.

How are your files all of a sudden being converted to DNG? Did you change anything on your preferences?

Since the 1.4 mess up this weekend, specifically with LR affecting both DNG and RAW files, the debate about RAW vs DNG will, i'm sure begin in ernist.

There are several recources that detail what and why DNG.

Here is one...

Raw vs. DNG is an excellent question, and if you do a quick search, you'll find some interesting threads here discussing the subject.

In the meantime, check your import dialog if you want to go back to keeping your CR2's rather than DNG's. It's probably changed in there, although I'm not sure how if you didn't do it! ;)
