Dng conversion and collections?

We've got 4'K pics the majority of which are NEF. We're considering a wholesale conversion to DNG. Of course we'll backup the catalog and photos before doing anything.

Is LR smart enough to maintain proper collections if the underlying photos are converted to dng?

I'd hate to have to redo all the collections again. Are there any other gotchas?

Yes, if you use the Convert to DNG command. Just try it with a test catalogue and test copies of NEFs. There has been a thread of this recently too.
