Disappearing presets, saving with catalog unchecked

I'm experiencing the disappearing presets issue after buying an iMac with Snow Leopard. Occasionally, some sets of develop module presets stored in separate folders in Library/Application Support/Abobe/Lightroom/Presets/Develop are simply gone when I open LR (2.5, running 64 bit). This has been happening with several folders of LRB grads presets. I look in the appropriate presets folder, and the LRB grads folders are missing. I recopy them back, they show up for a while in LR, but on restarting later, gone again.

I have searched various forums and the closest I could get to an answer was to insure that the Save Presets With Catalog button was unchecked in the LR preferences, and it has been unchecked but the issue persists. Puzzling and frustrating. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hi ralfraz, welcome to the forum!

If 'store presets with catalog' is unchecked, then the presets should be stored in the location that you've mentioned. If you've been checking and unchecking that checkbox, you might need to copy them back to that location - and then leave it unchecked so that they stay there. You may find the walkabout presets in a presets folder next to your catalog if they've gone missing.

If that still doesn't stick, I'd try deleting/moving the preferences file and letting it build a new one, as that preference might not be being saved properly.
