Disappearing catalogue folders and other maladies

Well after more than 12 months of relatively problem free motoring LR2 is causing me great grief. I am starting to notice things disappear from the catalogue. A completed flagged and edited photo shoot folder is no longer extant in the catalogue but the DNGs and the folder of exported (from LR) reduced JPGs are in their original folders. I did some preparation for a class by altering a collection, removing some pics and adding others, lo and behold when I went to use them later that evening the collection had reverted to its previous unaltered state. I am full of trepidation now about what I am next going to find (or not) and with LR being the back bone of my work now and with a lot of work booked - what do I do?

Look under "Open Recent" in the File menu to see whether there's another catalog that has your more recent update. Perhaps you're looking at a backup catalog.

Check you have all filters turned off.
Try synchronising.

Just did a synch and reimported the folder along with the folder of reduced JPGs, funny thing is that the JPGs still have their keywords but the DNGs no evidence of ever being in LR.
