....with no need for work arounds or secondary software. Or, even a tethered shoot module!

Not likely, due
to the sheer number of different camera models and Manufacturers who wont let ADobe in on the necessary Proprietary info to do what you want.

That is why you do need to use the Manufacture's software for the connection to LR or in future a third party Mod to do it.

I truly don't think this situation is likely to change, unless User can convince the Manufactures to change their ways.

Might be an area for plugin developers though.... once the SDK is released anyway!

If they would just tweak the way that auto import works then it would be enough for me. For Canon cameras the Canon software or Capture One work well enough for importing. The way that auto import has to move the files to a different folder bogs things down though. If it could import the files directly from the download folder then it would smooth things out a little bit.

Victoria,

I agree, there has been much discussion about this theme on the web; but one thing that bothers me (I am one of the users that *always* shoot tethered...) is how apps like C1Pro or Bibble can do it (shooting tethered), and include tools like lens distortion correction integrated to the app.

It isn't that Adobe doesn't want to provide better tether, AFAIK, it is that they have been fighting other fires and have it on the back burner, along with Dual Monitor support, beyond the little there is.

With a complete SDK, and better hooks, third party's can provide for a fuller tethered experience, because like developing, they know the proprietary necessities to do it correct for their cameras.
