I am helping a friend troubleshoot an issue and we're trying to figure out what the Device Storage tally under the Device Info & Storage area means.

(I tried Adobe support and now I want a drink at 10am.)

Is it how much storage used on your phone for everything or just for Lightroom?

So for example mine says 97.7 GB of 110.9 GB used in Device Storage, but under Settings > Apps it says Lightroom is only using 6.62 GB of internal storage. My Storage area, also under Settings, says 13.3 GB available (114.7 of 128 GB used).

This leads me to believing that Device Storage is everything on my phone and that there is 17GB used for the OS and then the 110.9 GB is the storage for everything else. However, Adobe's support said that the 97.7 GB is what Lightroom is using. :cautious:

I don’t have an android but that sounds right. Though named differently. My iPhone shows the same kind of storage brake down. On mobile devices, storage and RAM are the same shared area. If the device has 128GB of storage, some of that will be utilized to structure the storage block (Like formatting a hard disk). Some will be required to hold the OS files. Some will be required to hold the app files and the rest will be available for data. Each app installed will consume some of the data storage all the time. If there are a lot of unused apps, these can be freed up to give more storage to data.

In my Lightroom app I have a settings called Local Storage. It is defined as “Local Copies, Cache Files and free”. With 2.23 GB consumed. In my iPhone Storage it lists Lightroom with the app taking 220.9 MB and the data 2.61GB. Note there is a difference between the two data storage listing of 0.38GB.
