I'm successfully importing HEIC image files from my iPhoneX into Lightroom Classic. I can see the .heic format in the filename.
I've tried using the depth range mask, but its greyed out whether I use the phone camera in normal mode or portrait mode. I have the camera setting format set to record High Efficiency image files.

What else do I need to do to get this blasted tool working?

Try using the Lightroom mobile camera set to depth mode and see if it'll work that way for you

Thank you Victoria, after I set the Lr mobile camera correctly to cattier depth info it worked.
I had assumed that the feature would work with the iPhone camera, but now understand that you need to use the Lr mobile camera.
My learning for the day is done!
