deleting pictures in collection sets

I created a collection of 192 pictures which contained two different shooting locations. Of course, on my computer drive, the folder is still there with the 192 pictures.

I created a seperate collection set for each location, right clicked on the collection, and clicked on duplicate collection (which then gave me two collections, both exactly the same).

I dragged and dropped each collection into one of the collection sets. I now had that same collection in each of the collection sets.

After doing that, the original collection no longer shows in the LR collections list, and each collection set has a collection of 192 pictures.

My question is, if I delete half of the pictures in each collection set, will I be deleting them permanently? I know it is probably a stupid question, but I just don't want to lose them. I haven't worked with collection sets before.

Thank you for your help!

Collections contain records in the LrC database that refer to images; they are not images on themselves. Collection Sets are Collections of Collections, so again they are Collections of database records not images. So you "Remove" a record/image from a Collection; you don't"Delete". And you "Add" a record to a Collection, not "Import". You can have the same image in many different Collections or Collections within Collection Sets, but that image will still only be a single image file on your HD.

Thank you. Sorry for such an obvious question.
