Deleting photos

Hi,

I deleted previews from Lightroom but not the original RAW files from disk. Now I would like to get rid of RAW files as well. Is there a way to do it from within Lightroom? Can Lightroom find all the images which aren't imported in the catalog and delete them?

Not exactly. If a file's not in a catalog, Lightroom doesn't know about it.

I guess, as far as a workaround goes, you could run an import to import everything, and then select everything that is imported (in previous import) and hit Delete. I'd be inclined to do that on a duplicate catalog though - and make sure you have backups just in case you delete something you actually want.

If I understand correctly what you're trying to do (always a potential problem), you should be able to accomplish this by Importing everything in the folder in question. LR will tell you that some photos are already in the catalog. Just say OK to let it import only the missing photos. Then, click on the 'Previous Import' line on the left in Library. That should give you just the images that were previously missing. Ctrl-a to select all, Ctrl-Backspace to delete all, tell LR to delete from disk. Should do it, but be sure to test it first on a small set to be sure you're getting what you want. Cheers,
