Ok, I am beginning to learn LR, after only 2 months of frustrating effort. I have been cleaning up a lot of old files, and want to remove their listing and previews from lightroom's catalog. I use one giant catalog named "pictures", and then have titles like "Bayboro Scenes" for a folder, which will have a lot of images, maybe even sub/sub folders.
I don't see an option to delete the main heading in Catalog listings, where I might have 3'' listings under "pictures", and when I trash a listing, it remains, showing ' photos in it.

Must be simple, but this program is not designed for us geezers.

Thanks

Terminology is important, and can be a barrier.

Lightroom has Catalogs, Collections, Smart Collections, Folders, Keywords and of course, photos. It does not have Listings. Exactly which Lightroom structure are you referring to with the word "Listing"?

So you mean you've trashed the pictures, and you've removed those pictures from LR so that the folder shows ', but the folder's still there? Select it and press the - button at the top of the filters panel, or right-click on it and choose Remove.
