Delete Turns to Remove Keyword

Hi all, I'm brand new to the forums, and pretty new to Lightroom. I think I've narrowed down this strange thing, and I'm wondering if anyone else has seen this, or can help me out.

If I import a new batch of photos, the delete key (alternately, Photos>Delete Photo) works like you'd expect it to. That is, Lightroom asks if I want to delete it from the hard disk or if I just want to remove it from the catalog. However, if I then go back to a different photo set (e.g., click on a different keyword), the delete key now is wired to Remove Keyword. So when I press delete, the keyword is removed and the photo disappears. (Makes sense, because I am viewing all photos tagged with a Keyword, so if I press delete, the keyword is deleted from that photo and therefore not a part of the current view.)

I don't know how to get it back to have the Delete key actually delete the photo...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, I have an image selected. It seems to happen if the photos I'm looking at were chosen by selecting a keyword. If I look at the photos through the Folders command, I get the "true" delete...

What version of LR are you using? PC/Mac?

Oops, never mind, I figured it out, you must be using 1.x, because 2.1 behaves differently.

I think what you're seeing is by design. When you select a keyword in the keyword browser on the LH Panel in LR 1.x, delete photo is not one of the options. Collections work in the same way. There is a delete function in a collection view, but it only removes the selected image from the collection, and not from LR or the disk.

If you absolutely positively want to delete an image which you have navigated to via the LHP keyword browser, try the 'splat-delete', ctrl-alt-shift-delete. That should go directly to a delete image dialog. ( I guess thats' cmd-opt-shift-delete, if you're on a Mac). The other option would be to right-click on the image, and select 'Go to folder in Library ...' and delete it from there. Of course, that's painful for more than one image.
