Hello everybody, I keep reading that in a recent update Adobe changed the default Amount setting under Sharpening in the Detail panel from 25 to 40. But for me the default is stuck at 25. It's a small thing I know, but does anybody know whether the change in default setting actually happened, and whether it's applied to photos taken with all cameras or just some? I'm not applying a Develop Preset to my photos when I import them, and I haven't changed the Default settings for my camera either, so it's not that.

Hi and Welcome to the forums!

The default is 40, I suggest look at the Develop preset you're applying, it is probably setting it to 25 in there.

If you double-click (in Develop) on the Amount it wills et it to the default which you should find is 40 (therefore proving the preset comment).

Hi Paul, thanks, but I haven't applied a Develop Preset to the photos. The Amount slider Defaults to 25 when I import photos into Lightroom without applying a Develop Preset or using Default settings.

Sorry, I mis-read 'not applying' as 'applying'!!!

What type of photos (raw or jpg)?

It sounds as though you may have changed the default Develop Settings (even though you don't think you have). To check, open one of these images in the Develop module, then press and hold the Shift key, the "Reset" button will change to "Reset (Adobe)". Click on that and then see if the Sharprning slider value has changed to 40....if it does, you can change the Develop Settings back to the Adobe defaults (Develop menu>Set Default Settings>Restore Adobe Default Settings).
