HI, I usually answer questions here rather than ask them, but want to see if there is a better way to do this.
When someone imports a bunch of scanned images from old negatives or slides, the capture date/time on those images is usually the date/time they were scanned. However, once in LrC, the user can then look at these images and use the change capture date/time function to change this date to the date/time when it was shot (or at least close to it). The problem arises if the user is also letting LrC manage their folder structure "by date" using one of the date templates as the re-dated images are then not then in their proper folders.
Setting aside the method of fixing the dates outside of LR before initial import using other software, there are only two ways I know of to solve this problem. 1) Manually drag images to the correct folder in the folders panel , or 2) Write all metadata to disk, remove the images from LR and then re-import them. My question is this. Is there a better way that doesn't involve manual image by image moving or re-importing? Perhaps a plugin? With more and more people who are "Sheltered in Place" getting around to dormant scanning projects, I'm getting this question more and more and figured I'd check just be sure.
