Date Time Digitized/Date Time Original

I've been going thru some photos and I come across this a bit...I understand that Date Time Digitized is when the file was put up for the first time (I guess date it was captured on camera?) and Date Time Original is when a file was created (?)

I have some photos I took in Sept 2008 but the Date Time Original says 2009?

Can you explain that to me? The dates are like a year apart so I'm a bit confused.

The only two things I can think could cause that:

1. You've edited the capture date either in Lightroom (using Metadata>Edit Capture Time), or outside Lightroom using another application.

2. Or you had the date/time set incorrectly in the camera.

Thanks for the tip. My dates are right in the camera...but the photos are pretty old (I'm going thru LR and checking all my photos for deletions, etc.) that I probably edited the capture date....
