Custom ICC Profile Not Displaying in LR Print>Color Management Dialog

Hi there,

I've got some Ilford-built custom ICC profiles that I've downloaded from their website. For example: IGSPP9_EPR288'_EPGn.icc. I have an Epson Stylus Photo R288'.

None of them are showing in the custom profile dialog box under Print Settings>Color Management. I'm using LR 1.4.

I've done a lot of reading of other posts both in this forum and elsewhere. I know it's not a new topic but nothing suggested is working for me and I'm getting mightily frustrated. Not least because I've had this working on my PC version of LR 1.4 on my laptop.

The profiles ARE in RGB. I have tried to save the profiles both in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles and /System/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. I have no users/username directory. I'm using a brand new iMac. Restarted both LR and the iMac several times. Zilch.

Any additional help or suggestions would truly be appreciated.

I don't remember back to Ver 1.4 and apparently, I no longer have it installed. I am guessing it is similar to Ver 2.x but I don't remember for sure.

In your Print Job panel on Ver 2, if you select Profile: under Color Management is the "Custom Profile" if you select "Other…" you should get a box called "Choose Profiles" it should list every properly installed profile on your system. You simply check the profiles you wish to appear. If the profiles are not there, they are not installed properly. Hopefully Ver 1.x is the same.

Phil, do you want to post the download link, or email me the profile, and I'll load it up on my machine just to double check that it's not a problem specific to the profile for a start.

I am facing similar problem with LR3 Beta. I downloaded icc profile from Adobe site (AdobeICCProfilesCS4Mac_end-user.zip),
install them in suggested system directory, rebooted system and now I would like to use VideoHD.icc profile during
exports. Unfortunately, this profile is not offered in the "Custom Profile" popup selection window.
On the other hand, when I export to jpg using e.g. sRGB profile and then use Adobe CS to transform file to HDTV profile
than it works. So it seems that:
a) profile is properly installed as it can be used by other Adobe application on the same Mac
b) profile is not corrupted as transformation works and final results show fine at destination device
Any idea what can be wrong here?

Peter, welcome to the forum!

You could try opening the profile in Color Sync Editor and checking it's not a CMYK profile or something daft like that. Or post the download link and one or use will try it too.

It looks like that HD profile I want to use is RGB one. However, you maybe right that something is "wrong" with this profile
(once you unzip downloaded file it is file called "VideoHD.icc") because I compared its attributes in ColorSync utility
with other profiles that are being offered by LR "profile chooser" and it seems that there is one attribute called "Class"
that "disqualifies" VideoHD.icc from offered list. All offered profiles have "Class" attribute set to either "Display" or "Output"
while VideoHD.icc has Class set to "Input" (strange, but I admit I understand color management theory like nuclear fusion
one).
Can you or someone confirm this is the case here? Is LR anyhow "selective" about specific color profiles attributes (except for
CMYK ones)? Is there any workaround to change attributes of profile to be liked by LR?
