Custom crop & cattledogs

One thing I miss in lightroom is the ability to store crop presets. You can have 6 I think but as you introduce a new one you lose one. For my purposes if I was to have another catalogue for a specific regular event (horse races) Would that allow me to keep those crops and not have them messed with through the main catalogue?

Custom crops are catalog-specific. If you create them in one catalog, they won't appear in another catalog unless you add them there.
