I am still getting my feet wet with LR 2 and CS4. I am getting a little tripped up with this issue. I typically want to open my RAW files and or TIFF files in CS4 (from LR2) and then save in TIFF or PSD. No issue there.
When opening JPEG's, I want to save as PSD, TIFF or JPEG. All those options are there.

However, there are times I want to "edit in CS4" a file in LR that is a PSD or RAW file and I want to save THAT file as a JPEG. However based on the settings I have, I do not get that option in the "save as" dialog in CS4.

Of course I get it when opening a JPEG but what do I need to do to save a PSD or TIFF as a JPEG when coming from LR?

I have used CS3 for a few years so pretty comfortable with how this works when working with CS3 natively or with PSE.

I am sure this is something simple. I don't want to change the settings to ALWAYS default to JPEG's, I like the defaults. I just want that option.
Thanks,
BJB

The issue is that your TIFFs and PSDs will be open in CS4 as 16-bit.

Change them to 8-bit and you will then see the option to save as a JPEG.

You're right, it is something simple, but it catches a lot of people out at one stage or another.

Conor,
Thanks! It was that Lightroom setting. It seems best practice would be to leave it at 16 bit and just remember to convert to 8 bit before creating a JPEG.

Thanks again,
