Cross application scripting/actions

Even though, with a few add-ons, I think most retouching can be done in LR, occasionally one have to venture into PS to perform more "daunting" quests. One example would be the trip into the land of LAB color for giving canyon and portrait pictures a bit more "punch".

In many cases some or all of the retouching, once in PS, can be performed with actions (read: scripting).. So here it comes. Imagine that you could script LR to open PS, execute the PS action, save and return to LR.. and even better, perform this in "silent" mode without even opening PS (presumably faster), but just using the PS application as a "tools library"... :lol:

What do you think, should I pass this one onto Adobe ?

Well you kind of can do this already, in as much as you can set a Droplet (open PS, run action, save, close) to run as an export action, and save to the Watched Folder thereby automatically reimporting to LR.

How are you thinking you'd like to extend that further?

This might also work if you choose your droplet as an external editor. Never tried it, though.

Even though being aware of PS actions and droplets, I was not aware of the LR Export Action folder..(interesting :!: )... I guess you're right, it seems to cover what I want (and suggested), even though I find it a bit awkward to use export to achieve it..

I'll give it a try and let you know what I think..
