I normally crop my images with 'Aspect:Original'. My images are 35'4x2336 pixels (which makes it a 3:2 aspect). Now when I export my images to 15''x1''' pixels size, the images are not always 1''' pixels wide. It varies between 15''x998 and 15''x1''2. What can I do to get them exactly the size I want?

Also, I want to make wallpapers in different sizes. Do I need to make different crop aspects for each size (1'24x768px -> 512x384 aspect, 128'x1'24px -> 64'x512 aspect, etc) or is there a quicker way? I really like LR's cropping tool, but concerning crop size I think Photoshop is much easier and quicker..

When using the resize to fit checkbox on the export dialog and specify 15'' x 1''', are you selecting Width & Height? If so, you should not get any photo that exceeds those values but may get a few that lose a pixel or two on the long or short edge, depending on the pixel width and height of the source photo. If you are getting values greater than what you set there may be a little bug in there.

Regarding wallpaper, I have set up custom aspects for cropping to 4 x 3 which will do 16'' x 12'', 1'24 x 768, 8'' x 6'', and another for my widescreen laptop of 1.6 x 1 which does 128' x 8''. At this point, the crop is not those pixel sizes, just the correct ratio. I then use the resize to fit on export to set the pixel sizes I want for the target monitor.

I just noticed I forgot to reply to this topic (sorry for that), but I just figured out the solution!

Sorry for the very late reply. That's exactly what I did and it's the point I was trying to make (losing a pixel or two).

So now for the answer. The problem was that I set the crop ratio to 'Original'. After some tests today I found out that this caused the exported images to sometimes lose some pixels in the width or depth. When I changed the crop ratio to '2x3' the exported images were all exactly 15''x1'''. A bit strange, as my images are in 2x3 ratio (35'4x2336), but anyway I have the solution now.

Is there still no way to set a custom crop ratio as your standard crop ratio? I hate to change the crop ratio from 'Original' to '2x3' everytime I develop another image..

Select them all in Grid view Dirk, and select the 2:3 ratio in the Quick Develop panel. That way, when you come to the image in Develop, they will already have the 2:3 ratio selected.
