crop orientation

This question may have an obvious answer, but I can't seem to figure it out. Let's say I take a photo that has a horizontal orientation to the original and what to do is take a vertical element from the photo and crop it to the exact size as the original (just turning the photo on end).
I see that in the crop tools I can choose (for example) 6x4 or 4x6 but even if I unlock the aspect ratio, it doesn't seem to make a difference. Any thoughts?

Yes, it's a bit awkward. Grab a corner, shrink the rectangle slightly, and then drag up and over or over and up. The rectangle should flip to the other orientation.

I have a problem with this as well. Maybe 2.4 could have a "rotate crop" arrow in the crop panel? It shouldn't be that hard, should it?
