It would be very helpful if one could create a Smart Collection of images that are in stacks. It would also be very helpful if one could create a Smart Collection of images that are the tops of stacks.

I use stacks to group associated images, such as the original and modified images. I am sure others use stacks for other purposes. Being able to select images based on if they are inside a stack and based on if they are the top of a stack would assist those who use stacks as part of their workflow.

A smart collection match property such as:

stack top/member is/is not

would be very useful in working with stacks.

I would recommend you, too, fill out a feature request and add it to the chorus of those of us who need the ability to sort, group and collect by stacks.

Rikk,

I filled out the request form and submitted it. It was suggested by someone that I also raise this specific request in the forum to better develop the idea.

Can you point to posts where the idea of being able to 'ability to sort, group and collect by stacks' was discussed? Perhaps I missed them when I was searching. I'd like to see what others said about this general idea.

Welcome to the forums, chongo!

Yes! We need stacks to stay put throughout LR.

Thank you Gene.

Could you elaborate on your comment of needing stacks to stay put?

Right now stacking only works for images in the same folder and they do not remain if you move the images into a collection. It would be nice to be able to stack images regardless of which folders they are in and to be able to maintain that stack whether the images are in folder view or a collection.
