Crashing Lightroom - even old backups

whilst happily running lightroom since its inception - major nightmare has occured today - using 1.4.1 the database crashed so went back to backups and happened again...problem occures whilst scrolling down the folders pane - locks up, cant get to bottom of pane - cant see collections etc...also looses scroll down bar...

went back to various backups even back to beginning October! still the same problem - tried database on other machine - again same problem... can open different database with no problem...

I need the database up fast so very worrying as I have religiously backup up and optimized etc..

Welcome Richard. Sorry you have a problem first up but hopefully we can get you up and running. First make a copy of that catalog and keep it safely tucked away. Make a second copy and start using that. Put the original safely away as well.
Between LR1 and LR2 there has been substantial database changes and your type of issue has become less prevalent.
I am going to PM you with some instructions.

Hi Terry - no actually did a complete rebuild on the macbook pro - however even running lightroom on other mac pro - the same happens..the only update has been to put on Photoshop CS4 - however was working fine last week..

Sorted a corrupt linkage in the catalogue - now they have sent back fully working catalogue and now I have upgraded to 2.1 - should now not get the problem again.. phew... nearlly had minor heart attack... now just a mild infection...
