This catalog was started on 2 November as a conversion from 1.4 I was going to back it up as soon as I got all the new images loaded and then the inevitable crash happened (Why is there not a save button?) and now the (single and only) corrupt catalog will not work.

Is there any on who can fix this catalog? I have sent a similar message to [email protected] but there has not been time for him to respond. Any suggestions?

Hi gdwyer, welcome to the forum! Sorry it's a disaster that brings you here.

I'm not aware of anyone called dhall at adobe, so that might explain the lack of response. I'll drop you a PM with Dan Tull's email address - he's the database wizard.

There are a few other steps you could try first - try creating a new catalog hold down Ctrl (Win) / Opt (Mac) while starting up - and then go to File > Import from Catalog and point to your corrupted catalog. If it'll read it, just try importing a small chunk at a time, and backup in between. This often works when there is a single corrupted image data which is throwing it all out, which does sound like a possibility due to when the corruption has occured.

Other thought - do you still have the 1.4.1 catalog, which would have been unaffected by the upgrade (upgrading uses a copy). If so, you could just re-upgrade that catalog.

And for everybody else's benefit (because I'm certain you don't need telling!!!), this is why it's important to let LR backup its catalog regularly.
