Corrupt and cannot repair....

Have received a message that my new catalog is corrupt. Hit the repair button and it says cannot repair. I followed the Adobe notes and saved catalog to an external drive - opened it on another computer but after 1 minute the error message came up that the catalog was corrupt and closed lightroom 2.4 on Mac OSX 1'.5.7 (both computers)
Only about 15' images with 3' virtual copies
Any ideas - have client to view the shoot in the next few days - still have the raw files but trying to save some serious edit time

Open a new catalog and try importing the corrupt catalog.

To add to what Rikk said, import a little bit at a time, rather than all in one go. Corruption is most often confined to a small area - sometimes just affecting one image - so you can transfer everything off from around it. And the tool you'll be looking for is File menu > Import from Catalog to do that.

Ok - opened a new catalog - imported - the first 48 came into the new catalog then do the error "lightroom encountered a problem and must close" The first 48 are in the new catalog, but cannot get the others yet. I will try some more and import, eliminating a picture at a time as a single file may be the culprit - thanks for the suggestions

You may just have found your corrupted bit then - I'd try adding from the opposite end. If you turn on the previews, uncheck all, shift-select images in the thumbnails and press the checkmark on one of the images, it'll check all of the selected images. It's quicker than doing one at a time!

Started from the back and imported from the catalog - found that a virtual copy was bad and was able to reimport everything - no I need to figure out how to get the soundtrck to play....

I had trouble getting the sound to play from iTunes in a LR slideshow.

go to the preferences panel in iTunes and select General, then tick the applications box, and then un-tick it, then it worked in Lightroom after that, vey strange.... I think any change in the setiings will help, I expect is something to do with the permissions on the files being updated during an iTunes update. When you then make settings changes it re-writes the settings file and could change the permissions. (Just a guess though, I haven't checked it out)
