Correcting for time changes when you forget to reset your Camera's Clock

Many of us have done this. I just did it this week. If you live in the most of the US and many other countries, you are experiencing the wonder of Daylight Saving Time. But, you may have forgotten to set your camera's clock when you advanced all the clocks in your home. If you haven't plugged your camera directly into your computer or set the time manually, chances are good you've shot the last week with an incorrect time stamp. If so, and if you are fussy about such things, here is a step-by-step correction for you:

[li]Reset all your camera clocks via your favorite method so you don't do this again[/li]
[li]Create Smart Collection called "Daylight Saving Time" where -Capture Date - is after - 2'1'-'3-13- or whatever date your country changes[/li]
[li]Go to this collection and select all[/li]
[li]Go to Metadata - Edit Capture Time…[/li]
[li]Select "Shift by set number of hours (time zone adjust)" radio button[/li]
[li]Choose + 1 from the Hours Offset pull-down[/li]
[li]Click the [Change All] button[/li]
[li]Get rid of the Smart Collection because going forward you will have your clock set correctly[/li]

Lightroom will take all of the images in your Smart collection which have been captured since midnight last Saturday and shift them forward one hour in time so that they represent the correct time. If you shot after 11:'' PM on Saturday the 13th, you will have to drill in and select those images manually as the time sorting in Smart Collections only has granularity to the day.

And a little extra information, as we're in Tips & Tricks... the 'Adjust to a Specified Date and Time' option, doesn't, as many people assume, shift all of the images to exactly the same time, but actually shifts the time of the active image to the time you choose, and all of the others by the same increment. If your images are off by an odd amount, rather than a full hour, the 'Adjust to a Specified Date and Time' option will be the one you want.
