Hello,
I imported many files and neglected to convert to dng in the import process. I can edit the file in LrC but unable to edit in PS. That appears to be the case as the Edit in is greyed out. Do I need to convert all the Cr3 files?
Thanks in advance

You shouldn't have to convert the CR3 files to DNG in order to send them to PS via "Edit in." I send .CR3 files from LR to PS all the time.

Is it only the .CR3 files that you cannot send to PS via "Edit in"? Are these files on an external drive that is not connected so you are working off of Smart Previews instead of the original images ("Edit in" will not work unless LR + PS have access to the original image files)?

Thank you camner. I thought it should have worked, but ... After investigating further, I discovered that my external HD (with originals) had become disconnected as you thought was the case. and hence the Smart Previews! Now the question of why the HD had become disconnected.
Really appreciate this forum. Not just a quick response but a thoughtful one.
