In searching for a way to add links to Flash galleries in LR 1.3.1, I came across the following at http://blog.bluefire.tv/:

Make your Site Title or Collection Title a link: (This is the text that shows up in the header of the gallery) you can’t add the link from within LR, but it is really easy to do in a text editor. Simply open the group.xml file of an exported gallery in notepad or some other simple text editor and put a link tag in either place and save it. eg:
<a href="http://blog.bluefire.tv">bluefire blog</a>
<a href="http://www.bluefire.tv">bluefire</a>

I've opened my group.xml in text editor to attempt the above and here's what I've got:

galleryMaker>
<groupData groupID="" groupName=""></groupData>
<authorID></authorID>
<custom>
<groupTitle>Torchmate 4 CNC Plasma Tables</groupTitle>
<groupDescription></groupDescription>
<siteTitle>www.petsdonk.biz</siteTitle>
<contactName>Contact Us</contactName>
<contactEmail>mailto:[email protected]</contactEmail>
</custom>

I'm assuming the line to be edited is the siteTitle line, but when I swapped in one the "<a href" line and changed everything to suit my site, the Site Title disappeared. I tried again, inserting the "<a href" line after the siteTitle, and that also yielded no result.

I've got no real experience editing .xml and was wondering if anyone else had successfully attempted this.

Thanks,
Jeff

Success!

That did it! I was confused as to the placement of the line I was adding, but that put everything into perspective.

Now for the second question....

There are two ways to get my gallery to the web, either by hitting the "export" or the "upload" button. Since the above method edits the .xml file for an exported page, is there any way I can edit the same file and keep uploading through LightRoom?

I tried to upload both the modified .xml file and the index.html page it modifies, but I still get my old page. Any suggestions?

Thanks again for all the help.

Jeff

Hacking up the standard LR galleries is rough business. I'm not quite sure the best way to go about doing that without having to dig through their code.
