Computer Requirements?

Does anyone have a clue what computer resources will be needed/recommended for running the full release of Lightroom 2.' and Photoshop CS4?

I am looking to upgrade my Dell laptop and want to take into account the recommendations of experts, so what do you think?
-Core 2 Duo processors a must?
-Will Quad Core offer any extra benefit?
-What about 64-bit Windows? or Mac?

I have to say the most satisfied users I've encountered, are:

1) Macs with 8 core, and fast internal drives, and Firewire8'' externals.
Many very happy users.

2) Vista 64 with mucho memory, and the same fast internal drives, and eSata externals.
A few very happy users.

Tom, I understand searching and not finding, or rather finding too much to make sense of. The search function here is rudimentary IMHO, I have trouble finding stuff I know is here. I guess that's just how vBulletin (the forum software) works.

Patrick, you're probably correct about the 64 bit thing (I'm happy to take your word for it). I know I've read a few users raving about Vista 64 and LR somewhere, perhaps it's just better OS memory management that makes the improvement?

I don't believe the LR2 Beta runs as 64Bit, but that does not rule out, in and of itself, a final LR2 that runs 64Bit under Vista.
