Colour management

In the Print module I set Lightroom (2.5) to manage colour management by selecting the custom profile for my Canon MP61' printer (multifunction). The drivers are the most up to date ones from the Canon website. However, when I try to turn off the printer colour management, I only have the option of either using ColourSync or Canon Colour Matching in the Colour matching dialogue box on my iMac (Mac OS X Snow Leopard). I can't seem to turn the printer colour management off and so the print may be being colour managed twice. This may be why the print colours don't replicate the colours shown on the monitor (calibrated using HueyPro) very closely. Can you help please?

There are known issues with Canon (and Epson) printer drivers and Snow Leopard, causing improper color management. The solution has to come from the printer manufacturer and/or Apple (I understand they are working on improving ColorSync in OS X 1'.6.2). The drivers posted on the Canon site may or may not work; that is certainly the case with the Epson drivers. Did you install the MP61' series CUPS Printer Driver Ver. 1'.26.'.' (Mac OS X 1'.5/1'.6, mp61'sosxcp1'26''ea8-2.dmg)? If that doesn't work, you may have to wait for another driver or OS revision. Another check would be to export the file as a JPG from LR and print these via iPhoto and see if the colors appear closer to the monitor.
