I have a question about embedded color profiles. Because my computer is older and slow, I try not to do anything more during import to LR than I need to. So my workflow is to use Nikon Transfer to download images from my camera (D8') and Nikon ViewNX to do a first run at sorting and culling my images before importing to LR. Then I don't waste time importing bad images into LR.
Nikon Transfer has a check box labeled "Embed ICC color profile during transfer". My understanding is that that identifies (and records) the color profile used by the camera to allow editing programs to understand what color space the images was taken under. Is this something that I should be doing?
I know that LR has embeded profiles specific to each camera. Does that mean that LR applies the same profile to the image that Nikon Transfer would embed? If I embed the ICC profile during download with Nikon Transfer, does that cause a conflict within LR because it has it's own camera specific profile? What is the recommended process for this?
Thanks
Jim
