Color Problems when Lightroom Re-Installed

I had my computer crash a couple of months ago, though we were able to retrieve information off the hard drive. We got a new computer and re-installed Lightroom. Ever since then the color has been off in Lightroom as well as when I bring the file into Photoshop. Whites, especially, look very pink. I edit as usual in both applications (rather than trying to get rid of the pink cast) and then when I upload them to the web for proofing, they look fine. It's not my monitor or they'd look strange on the web as well.

I'd greatly appreciate any help with this problem!

I second Mark's advice. The reason the web views look OK, is because most browsers use a completely different color management pipeline from that used by Lr and PS.

What browser are you using for that comparison?

Oh, BTW, welcome from me as well....

At the risk of sounding ignorant, I'm not sure what you mean by the histogram parts looking pink as well. Do you mean the histogram itself looks pink? Could you explain?

And...as someone trying to stay out of debt while getting a business going, I don't have a nice monitor nor any calibration software. Is there a way to recalibrate without that? :-[

I use MSN for a web browser.

I'm sorry it's taken me so long to try this out. I've been swamped and today is the first chance I've had. As far as I can tell, however...it WORKED!!!! I'm comparing pictures I have in Lightroom with the ones I have up on the internet for proofs and I don't see a difference anymore! Thank you so much!!!!

Great news Ranny. Now, bear in mind that you've just switched to a standard sRGB profile, rather than a profile specific to your monitor, so ideally you'd want to use calibration hardware (EyeOne, Spyder, etc) to build a custom profile for your own monitor.

That would be ideal. If I only had the software as well as a nice monitor instead of a cheep one. :-[ All things in their proper time... hehe
