Hey guys, I normally don't post in forums because I usually can figure out the problem myself, but I'm kind of stumped here. Checked the other posts, seen similar problems, but not exactly the same.

Current setup:
Laptop, calibrated with Spyder2express. Color profile set to default, deleted all other profiles for the monitor. Programs: Lightroom 2.5. Photoshop CS4 and Faststone Image Viewer

Problem:

Microsoft Photo Editor/FastStone displays images slightly less saturated.
Lightroom 2.5 displays the same unedited image saturated.

Photoshop - when the working color space is set to sRGB, displays the same saturation levels as the Lightroom. When the working color space is set to the monitor profile, "spyder2express", it displays saturation levels as Microsoft Photo Editor and FastStone.

Question is if Lightroom is displaying the right colors or is Microsoft Photo Editor displaying the right colors on my monitor. This doesn't relate to exporting images from Lightroom in various color spaces. Only displaying images on the monitor.

Attempted solutions: Re-calibrated system numerous times. Checked the registry to ensure the default profile is correctly called.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Welcome to Lightroom Forums Bum!

Well, it seem that you are confusing color profiles and color spaces. A color profile is telling how to interpret color values in a given color space. Do not count on Faststone and Microsoft PE for color management. And to properly set Lightroom/Photoshop, look at our Queen's article on the subject.

Never set Photoshop to a monitor profile! As Denis says, color spaces are set for your programs, profiles are assigned to your hardware drivers, usually monitors or printers.

Thanks Brad and Denise for the input.

I agree with setting the color space for Photoshop to the same as the output of Lightroom. I guess the question is more in regards to the display of color.

Should I not be seeing the same display in color, saturation, etc of an unedited picture from Lightroom and Microsoft Photo Editor if the programs are referencing the same default ICC profile for the screen?

I spent some time looking, and as far as I can tell, it isn't. Actually, "wasn't" may be a better word, it seems to be more or less discontinued, tho' still available for download.
