Color Management / Profile setting no longer "sticks"

I have to re-select a Profile in the Print Job / Color Management area every time I return to the Print module. This is a new problem since following your instructions on upgrading/downgrading/upgrading CC due to the Import fiasco.

The Intent and Print Adjustment settings don't have this problem.

Do I have to re-install again? Do I need to delete something?

Hi trutherfo, welcome to the forum!

So you're on CC 2015.3 now? You can check under Help > System Info.

Take us through the exact and we'll try to reproduce the problem. It's certainly possible that it's a bug. A preference reset is more likely to fix it than a reinstall, if it's not a reproducible bug.

Hi, Victoria! I updated Lightroom CC 2015.1.1 to 2015.2.1. Then, I uninstalled Lightroom, installed 2015.0 and updated to 2015.1.1. That's when I noticed the problem with the Print / Print Job / Color Management / Profile not sticking. Last, I updated to 2015.3 and the problem is still there.

Thanks trutherfo. I particularly mean your steps in the Print module (e.g. I'm in Library module and I select an existing saved print and go to.... or whatever)

Suppose I edit a new photo in the Develop module, proof it, and then go to the Print module. In the Print module, I select, among other things, to use an ICC profile of Museo Silver Rag w/out any color management from the printer. Then I print.

Subsequently, I edit another photo in the Develop module, or I merely examine another photo in the library module. If I do anything that takes me away from the Print module, then when I go back, it does not show the Museo Silver Rag profile, but rather it shows no profile at all.

What happens if you don't soft proof first? That might be where it's falling down.

Are you able to try printing in another editor like PS and see if you get the same results? Otherwise maybe re-installing the printer driver may be another option. I still run Windows 7 64 bit like you and have not seen any issues that you unfortunately have.

Six months ago when this first happened, I saved my catalog, created a new catalog, and saw that I no longer had the problem. So I re-built a catalog from scratch. No fun.

Now, it's back again. I did upgrade to Windows 10 in the interim, but that was a couple months ago and the problem re-surfaced a couple of days ago.

I updated my printer driver from Epson's site for 64-bit Windows 10 and still no joy. Creating a new catalog does not help.

Please help.

Take us through the exact steps you go through then... do you select a template, or adjust any settings in the Print module, or exactly what do you do?

Victoria, it's the same as before:

>>Suppose I edit a new photo in the Develop module, proof it, and then go to the Print module. In the Print module, I select, among other things, to use an ICC profile of Museo Silver Rag w/out any color management from the printer. Then I print.

>>Subsequently, I edit another photo in the Develop module, or I merely examine another photo in the library module. If I do anything that takes me away from the Print module, then when I go back, it does not show the Museo Silver Rag profile, but rather it shows no profile at all.

It doesn't matter whether I proof or not. It doesn't matter which ICC profile I'm using. All that's required is that I have a profile in the Print module, leave the Print module, and then come back to it. First it's there, then it's not. It's not sticky. It won't stick and it impacts my productivity.

I wonder if you could ask Adobe whether others are having this problem?

Here's the minimum.

Go to the Print Module. Set an ICC profile. Go to the Library Module. Go to the Print Module. The place where the ICC profile was is now blank. Press Print and Lightroom brings up a message that the Profile selected is missing or invalid and gives you the option to print anyway without LR managing the color.

I have the same issue. It's really annoying, and importing everything into a new catalog is way too time consuming.

I believe this started after I updated to Windows 10.

Have you tried creating your own Printer template preset, where you have your printer, paper, paper size and profile included in the configuration.

Maybe Lr is reverting to the previous used template, if you have your own configured and selected it might revert to that ... just a thought.

I created a new User print profile when there's an ICC print profile selected and showing in the correct area of the Print module. My print is handled is correctly. Then I go to the Library Module and return to the Print Module. I select the User Profile. Guess what? LR shows a blank area where the ICC profile should be. It thinks there is no ICC profile selected. All the other settings are correct. It's just this one. Definitely an Adobe problem.
