Color Label keeps coming back

I have some jpeg files from 2''4 that have color labels on them. I keep removing the labels (and Save Metadata), but they keep coming back if I later choose "Read Metadata".

How do I get rid of them?

The same thing was happening to the keywords of these files. I finally took the photos into Photo Mechanic and changed the keywords. Then LR saw the changes and updated the files. But, PM can not view the color label part of the metadata, so I can't change them in there.

Does it just happen on these files, or all files?

Thanks for getting back to me Victoria (I haven't checked this forum for awhile, and just now realized my question did get answered afterall).

It was just one set of files. I did finally get it resolved. I remembered that I had originally assigned the labels via Adobe bridge. So, I opened them in there and reset the color label to none. When I reread the metadata in LR, it accepted that change.
