Color display in Lightroom 2.6

Ok I shot some images in a studio with a seamless while background - on Camera the while looks perfect - bring the RAW file into Lightroom the white looks a little yellowish - so I go about messing around with exposure settings etc... This was bothering me cause on the camera it looked perfect - white - So I go and load Digital Photo Professional (Canon Software) - and Yes I am using a canon camera and in DPP the while is perfect white I even save the image as a JPG without any changes and open it up in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2 and the while is while even when I use the dropper tool the color RBGO all register 255 so it's while. next thing I do to make sure I'm not mad so I have both Lightroom open and DPP and window then and look at the same image side by side at the same time and in lightroom the white is just not while it's all yellowish. How do I get Lightroom to display the same colors as other applications.

Hi dghillza, welcome to the forum!

When you float over the image in Develop in LR, does it register 1''% on everything (the equivalent of 255)?
If you import a jpeg in, do you have the same problem?
How are you calibrating your monitor?

It could be a problem with your monitor profile. Are you using a calibrated monitor? and if so what type of profile is your calibration software creating ? Lightroom has been known to get a bit upset with certain types of profiles. Are you seeing RGB 255 / 1''% in LR too ?

Welcome, dghillza.

Along the same lines as Vic and Nik, an important diagnostic: is the neutral gray portion of Lr's histogram display actually gray, or does it have a yellow cast as well? That's a sure sign of display profile corruption.

Thank you all for replying.. let me try answer your questions - first up I'm new to lightroom so correct me if I'm wrong - in developer I choose the White Balance Selector and then when I move that around the area that supose to be white but looks yellowish it shows the R 1'' B 1'' G 1'' 1''% so I'm asuming that that is white.

Yes I do have the same problem with a jpg - I downloaded one from the internet and it have never been through lightroom except for importing it (wasn't a converted RAW file)
The Monitor that I have is a Samsung Syncmaster 2232GW and the software that came with it to calabrate it is called Natural Color Pro 1.' - I have gone through all the steps of using the Advanced settings to set a color profile. and then when I click on the icon in the system tray the profile is ticked - which I asume it is the current active one. I haven't used any calibrating hardware tools.
The thing is that one well so far two applications (Canon's DPP) and Corel PSP X2 the white looks white and in lightroom it doesn't - although checking the RPG in developer it is white? so why doesn't it show as the other applications?

Again, what color is the gray portion of the histogram?

When choosing a neutral for White Balance target, make sure it's an area that's supposed to be neutral, and is properly exposed. If it's blown out before White Balancing at 1'',1'',1'', such as a blown highlight, or specular reflection, that won't work.

If you haven't used a hardware based calibrator, then you haven't truly calibrated. Doesn't look like to me from casual research that Natural Color Pro uses a hardware colorimeter.

Lr is far more rigorous in its usage of color management in a system than many other products, it's far more likely to expose system related issues like this than other software.

Another simple test would be to set the monitor to sRGB colour profile. See if the whites/neutrals still look yellow in LR. If they don't it is the monitor profile that is off.

And Thank you Victoria Bampton for the link when I set my my monitor to sRGB the images show up in LR how they should the while is white and matches the other programs - Thanks guys for all the help.. Now I guess it's down to calibrating my monitor if I want to truly calibrate it.
