COLOR DIFFERENCES (Problems) - From LR to Websites

This has got to be about a Kindergarten level LR question... but obviously, I need the help.

Please see the image below: The image on the RIGHT is how it looks in LR after adjustments. The image on the LEFT is how the image appears after being uploaded to various photo websites or stock sites. I know that the changes I made in LR have taken, because the Vignette is visible in both... but the color of the rose is drastically dampened? These images appear FINE in my browser in "Preview" (on a PC)... but it's only when I upload them to a site that the change occurs.

Any thoughts?

You didn't choose sRGB as the color space when you exported from Lightroom, and you're using a non-color-managed application to view the photo on the left, probably Internet Explorer or Firefox. (You can enable color management in Firefox 3.'.)

The most important part of the solution is to always choose sRGB as the color space when the destination is the web.

The other part is to use color-managed software whenever possible, calibrate your monitor, encourage others to do the same, and encourage software vendors like Microsoft and Google to support color management.

Edit: One other consideration -- upon uploading, it's possible that either the uploading tools or the destination site stripped important metadata out of the file, including the color space tags and/or the embedded color profile. Facebook does this, for example. This isn't the entire problem (not being sRGB is probably the biggest part), but it's another issue to be aware of.
