Color changed after loading finished

Hi everybody,
I am new here, thank you for sparing your time to read my post.
I am just back from France, and working on over 2'G of photos by my Canon 4''D. On the lightroom, of course.
I noticed a strange phenomenon that the color of photos may significantly change after the “loading”，and in the most of cases, it goes worse. Especially on the photos of the Louvre which are full of red and gold.
What the lightroom actually loaded during the first seconds?
Is it normal? If not, what I supposed to do with that?

Kaiser, as you say it's hard to search for, because of a lack of common terminology.

Anyway, please feel free to follow up, this really is a 'make or break' topic for many folks with their first LR experiences.
