Collages in LR

Hi -

I am in the market for an album software maker product.

However, since I'm new to LR I was wonder if LR (or the beta of 2.') can do Collages for albums?

Anybody have experience with this?

If not, what is your favorite album software? I guess it can be done in CS3, so I'm not sure if purchasing a product is worth the money.

Larry,

LR 1.x and LR2Beta can't do it. Altho' the beta, is reported not yet feature complete, rumor is that custom print packages (the foundation of an album package) are not going to make it in. It's a highly requested option, so I'm sure it will remain a development priority.

As to 3rd party packages, I'll yield the floor to those with broader experience.
One of the print houses I use, Mpix.com, offers online album software for free, I haven't used it yet, but hope to test drive it soon. I assume other labs have similar programs.

What sort of designs are you looking to do Larry? Straight rectangles on a page? Fluffy edges? Overlapping? How much album design are you looking to do?

I'd love it if LR had the same type of scrapbook feature that Aperture has.

Hi Vic:

All kinds of designs... for my vacations, perhaps weddings... I'm testing driving FotoFusion by LumaPix and I really like it. Expensive on the $299 side and I just missed their $6' off coupon by 3 weeks. I know I can use CS3 but it's so much faster in LumaPix with a lot of great features. I might just purchase it.

it´s my first post in the forum. sorry but my english is too bad.

Lightroom 2 it´s very good to prepare contact sheet or printer package with the same photo. Today i´m using In Design for the wedding albums but this program is for proffesionals of art design. I´m using only two features from indesign it´s too basic i know. But it´s too complicated perform lightroom with a "page manager"?, for me is very simple, only in the picture package with an option "include different images"

Hopefully a picture package with different images will be able in a future version - it certainly seems likely.

the very good option for many photographers in new LR it´s: in picture package create a presets for different kind of albums with different structures (no effects) and the option of change the colour of background for the export in jpg and send directly to our labs by the FTP protocol.
