  • The November 2019 Lightroom updates are now available. Lightroom Classic includes the ability to export the same photos as multiple sizes/formats in a single export, content aware fill for panorama edges and more. It does require a catalog format upgrade and there are updated system requirements, so you may want to wait a few days before upgrading.
    Lightroom (cloud-based service) has export options (such as TIFF format, renaming and color space), custom sort order on the desktop, copy/paste to multiple photos on iOS and more.
    The Missing FAQ and Edit Like a Pro eBooks are already updated for the changes.

Hi there,
Wondering if I'm the only one getting this.
Last few times I've backed up, I return to LR after and there is a message indicating there was a failed attempt to write to a closed server.
I look at my backup file and it appears to be about the right size so I don't know if the backup was successful or is corrupt.
Thoughts?

Any chance you can get a more precise message, perhaps a screen shot. "Closed server" doesn't quite sound right.

Also, are you backing up with Lightroom (i.e. a backup of the catalog only, not images), or are you using a specific backup software to backup your disks, if so what software and in what kind of mode/settings/target?

Thanks for responding. The error message on the screen after every back up reads

"An internal error has occurred: Attempt to make a request to a closed server". Screenshot attached.

My backups are all through LR and all my backups are in the 1.9g size range, and are located in my 'pictures\lightroom\backups' folder.

I backup using Windows File History as well but the message wasn't related to that and as the screenshot indicates ...it always appears in LR near the end of the backup process.

What program are you using to back up? That doesn't look like a message from Lightroom itself, is it? I'm asking because there are no options like Windows File History in Lightroom's backup.

POSTSCRIPT: I'm sorry, I know what you mean now by "File History". I've never never heard that really termed a backup before (and it's not really, since a disk error destroys it also).

I do not know the answer to your question, I'm sorry -- hopefully someone else will chime in.
