Hello - happy 4th of July.

Question on using the clone tool in LR6. When i clone from one area of a photo to another i am getting very hard edges where the cloning takes place. can someone tell me how to smooth these edges out?

Many thanks

Use the Feather slider. Set to a reasonably high amount, it should remove that hard edge.

Jim, I've done that but it doesn't take care of the problem. What I started doing was after cloning, going to spot heal but that is real time consuming. I've been cloning into out of focus backgrounds to delete people and objects and the hard edge is really noticeable.

If it is really a hard edge, then a high feather setting should solve that. If it is more a matter of seeing a density difference between the cloned area and the surroundings, then you could try to solve this by manually moving the source so it better matches the destination. I would also try to use heal rather than clone if possible, for exactly that reason.

Its probably the density difference so I'm thinking its going to be a trial and error type of thing.
