How do you check metadata in develop - I want tocheck exposure of an image when in develop - do I have to go back to library?

Good question!

No, if you use View menu > View Options, you can choose which information to show in the 2 loupe info views, and then cycle through those views using the keyboard shortcut I.

I have mine set to:
Loupe Info 1:
File Name, Common Photo Settings, Capture Date/Time

Loupe Info 2:
File Name, Camera, Cropped Dimensions.

Most of the time I leave it on Loupe Info 1, but it means I've got most information at my fingertips at all times.

To quickly answer the specific question about checking exposure: Under the histogram you'll find the ISO, aperture, and shutter speed (and focal length). So I use the view options for other things.
