Checking MetaData gets written

Hi,

I had a problem and ended up having to re-install Windows.

It seems that at some time I must have changed something as not all of my images have had their metadata carried over, even though I dont remember turning off the options.

Do I only need to check if their is an xmp file for each nef to be sure the data is there, or is it something more.

What do you feel is missing? Stack, Virtual Copies and some such is not written to xmp.

As well all the information would be in the catalog so you could save from there by:
In library>all photographs
Select all> ctrl-s

That should write out all the information to xmp files.
