changing the name of the hard desk

hi all i have problem that when i attached my hard desk every time the name is change iand i have to locate the pictures again and sometimes the lightroom is hanging after i locate the photos and i should colse it

so what should i do for this problem i attached to u a picture to see what i mean

You need to tell us a bit more about your system please, I presume it's a PC

ok i have a Dell Laptop LATITUDE D82' core 2 due 2.5 GB ram

lightroom 2.1

and the hard desk i mean is external hard desk sorry for the missing info

Windows obviously. Access Computer management through control panel then Storage then Disk management, then click on Action, All tasks, then Change drive letter and paths and change dive letters from there (ie. I use X,Y,Z for external drives). Obvously it is wise not to mess with C or other letters for CD/DVD drives assigned by PC for common drives it uses hence my use of letters in the latter part of the alphabet. That's for XP, but vista is pretty much the same.

You want to change the letters asssigned to you external hard drives. From control panel, go to Administrative tools, Computer Management, Storage, Disk Management, highlight the Drive you want to change the letter assigment to, then click on "Action" then "All Tasks", then "Change drive letters and paths" (I use X,Y,Z for my ext. HD's).
Obviously stay away from C,D,E,F.
Your PC will now recognize the drive as that assigned letter whenever you plug it in and you will only have to show LR the path the first time.
This is for vista (XP is pretty much the same)

Zeiss is absolutely right, it's the change of drive letter that is causing the problem. Set it to the same letter, and it should remember that in future, thereby solving the problem for good.
