Changing my workflow (flag)

My workflow in LR2 was :
I import my pictures, I go through them quickly in the folder and flag the ones I want to keep, and add them to a collection.
After, I go through the pictures more carefully in the collection, do some editing and make a final sorting. The one I don't want in the collection, I unflag them and delete them from the collection.
In LR2, it automatically unflag them in the folder as well, but not in LR 2.3.
So I need to go back to the folder and find the pictures I deleted in the collection and unflag them in the folder... to sync the folder and the collection...and it's extra work and annoying!!!
What should I change in my worflow?

Use stars or ratings instead, which are global rating systems (i.e. they apply whatever folder or collection you're looking at).

I can't use stars, because I use them in the collection, to pick the pictures I want to print at the end, or make it to the album.
Maybe I should use stars in the beginning, and color for the album or the print.
But I liked the flag, it was very fast and logic. Do you think they will put this features back?
How do you do to pick your best?

Maybe I can use 1 star for the collection, 2 stars for the album and 3 stars for the print... It's even better than the flag. Just have to get use to it, I guess.
But I'm still interesting in what you use to sort your pic in your workflow

I'm not sure how the feature's changed boubouoz - it's always been local.

Personally I use star ratings to decide how much I like them, and then labels/keywords/collections to show how I've output them. I usually have collections showing website vs. print vs. slideshow.

That feature was never there unless there was a bug in the previous version. Flags always were local to folders or collections. The idea behind this behavior is that what is a pick in one context may not be one in another context (Collection/Set).
