Changing folder hierarchy

In LR 1.4 I had the folders on my external HD set up as:

Lacie External (Main folder)

• 2''6 (subfolder)
• 2''7 (subfolder)
• 2''8 (subfolder)

But now I have upgraded to LR2, the "Lacie External" folder is not needed because the volume now shows as "Lacie External"

What is the easiest way to remove the top tier folder name, and leave the subfolders intact?

Right-click the "Lacie External" folder and choose Promote Subfolders, then click the Promote Subfolders button in the warning dialog that appears.

If you change your mind later you can right-click one of the subfolders and choose Add Parent Folder and Lightroom will bring it back.

Anyone know how to do this in LR 2.3? I have tried right-clicking on the Parent and Child folders, but I never get the option to promote.

I get the "Promote Subfolders" option in LR 2.3, but only on the highest level folder; i.e. for the path c:\my pictures\folder1, I only get the option on "my pictures".

Thanks for the reply. But frankly, that stinks! Why only the top level folder? Silly.

Because it is not adding or removing folders for real at all. It just makes them visible or not.
