My images are scanned and I do not know the day and time, usually only the month and year. Sometimes I set the date to month/1/year/12:'':'' AM and it is entered correctly for a group of slides. Other times only the first slide is set properly and the others read using incremental times and eventually sometime switching to day 2 of the month. I suspect when it does what I want it is because there is no date/time information available from which to increment.

Is there anyway to set all images to the same time without having to do it one at a time or using Elements to delete the date time stamp.

Sure. Just select multiple photos in the Grid view and choose Metadata > Edit Capture Time. Choose Adjust to a Specificed Date and Time, and then enter the date/time in Corrected Time. Then click Change All. It's documented at Change the photo capture time.

Interesting! I changed the date/time stamp in elements and did synchronize metatdata in Lightroom. Nothing changed. I had to remove the files from Lightroom and import again to get the corrected date/time stamp. I thought the date time stamp was metadata.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Anita, this does not work. The documentation says that Metadata > Edit Capture Time takes the time of the first image in the series and adjusts all subsequent images relative to that.

It only works if the original images have no time attached to them.

Hi Doug--Indeed, it doesn't seem to work. I experimented by trying to change the date/time to dd/mm/yyyy 12:'':'' AM for two pairs of photos: One pair with an original capture date/time, and one pair of scanned photos with only a Metadata Date. In the former, the stamp on the second photo preserved the exact gap in time between the two photos. In the latter, the stamp on the second photo changed to something seemingly arbitrary.

I recommend you file a feature request by clicking here. The product team will see it and take it into consideration.

You can also use Exiftool to adjust the date/time. It is a command-line tool but there is also a GUI somewhere (ExiftoolGUI).

My work flow for scanning will be that once a group of pictures has been scanned I will import to Elements and change the date/time and rename images if necessary. Then import to Lightroom. I have filed a request feature to Adobe Lightroom and hopefully this will be remedied in the future.
