change ratio while exporting

not my native language i'll try to do my best

i want to create a photobook
if i want my photo to fulfill the sheet (no borders) it has to be 4:3
since if have a 5d (or 35'd) my photos are 3:2
i don't want to crop, not this time, i'm fed up with this technique
what i'm thinking about is adding a small border (let's say white) at the top and bottom of my photos getting them 3:2 automagically
is there a way to do that with lightroom ?

if you are aware of a great site printing something like 2'*3'cm, please share your thoughts

You could do that in 2.' using the Print Module and Print to Jpeg kheops, but I can't immediately think of a way in 1.', other than running them through a Photoshop action once they've exported.

i'm sincerely wondering why people gladly accept to print their photobook with a 4:3 ratio in one hand while with the other they could buy a x'''$ body to get a 1''% coverage in the viewfinder
a 3'*3'cm book (something like 12*12 inches) might work but they are more expensive and a strict 8*12 inches HAVE TO exist somewhere (still searching...)
i'll have a look in LR 2.' if it leaves my 1.4 install 1''% untouched (i think it's the way it works)

If english is not your native language (this is also my case) LR 2.' Beta may interfere. It is not critical tough. See this topic to know more.

thanks Winston, i did try with mogrify but no luck at the moment

let's say my photo is 4368*2712 (ratio 3:2) exactly to make it 4:3 height has to be 3276 instead of 2712, so i think borders have to be added to top and bottom ?
but i'm afraid it's not my main concern, i also have in my library a photo of 4''5*267' (cropped but still with a 3:2 ratio) to be 4:3 i have to add borders as well, but thinner, and it's pain in the a** to change my export script, even if the formula is quite simple
i don't know how to change mogrify settings to add borders depending of the original size, something which could make it a "standard" export

Winston i have to get back to you.

Your advice "If the ratio is constant, you can resize to a fixed size and then add constant height borders." was right on focus
Dealing with portraits photos was easy as well, i had just to rotate them losslessly with lightroom in the catalog, so the resize thing was really the same for each photo.
The only tiny problem is that some of the photos had to be upsampled, but in another way it gives blank borders the same height all the way.
